A lurker, no more...

Hi All,

I'm the buzzard, and have been gliding around your beautiful place for a while now. I've enjoyed gazing upon your chickens, coops, and general bits.

Years back we had a small flock of 7 or 8 little beauties. 3 roosters, and 4 or 5 hens, all recieved as chicks. We raised them, and decided to keep them all. Now we have zero, and want to change that asap.

I plan to build a tractor coop, approx 4' x 7' x 8', slanted flat roof -- this is where I will really need some help :O --This coop is the starter setup, so to speak, and will come in handy for years to come. I already have the trailer picked out, and bought some 2x4's, so here we go.

Thanks for having me, looking forward to joining in all the fun you all are having :)

Here is the tiny coop i cobbled outta scrap many years ago, used old lawnmower wheels, coupla big hooks on front and i could drag it around pretty good.

This is the main dude who ran the place.

Yes I agree this Poultry Forum is very awesome with lots of great members and information. :)

Just curious, I love your Coop and is that spray foam I see in the corners of your coop? If So? I would trim it and or cover it, because your chooks will pick at it and get sick if not die from it! :(

Thank you so much. That coop was from a long time ago. In hindsight, I would not have used the foam, but the chicks were cold, and I had to react. No chickens died or got ill from the foam.

Unfortunately, our wonderful companions, bug eaters, and just terrific little animals were all taken by predators.

A pair of red tailed hawks took the last 4 in 2 days. :(

The last bird was taken 15 yards behind my back while gardening with headphones on. Turned around to wipe some sweat and say hi to my last girl, and she was alreay being defeathered, hawk was so big, it just flew off with my bird. That was tough, but free rangers are always in danger in these parts.

I will have a covered run for our new coop. Lesson learned.

Thanks for popping in, planning a coop build thread, come check it out, and give me a few pointers :)
