A&M not thriving...

Alright, my A&M group that I hatched is no longer a group... I had 7, now I have one. This was the largest of the group. It's about 5 weeks old or so now, just has small eye patches of down. It's pretty big... Unfortunately, I tried moving it with the hatchmates to a "grown-up" cage, which is when I lost the other two survivors. It was lethargic and I thought I was going to lose it. I moved it to the brooder, it perked up, was doing fine. I moved it in with the buttons and cochin chicks, and it went downhill again. It is back in the brooder, with day old showgirls and my trio of rosetta/tuxes, and now seems to be perking back up. What the heck is up with this bird? I would have thought that the others were being jerks to it, but I even moved two smaller brown chicks from the brooder (same broodermates, just different cage), and they're doing just fine. Are the A&M's really this weak?! How long does this brute have to stay in the brooder for?! It's not picking on the babies, but still, what the heck? At this rate, I'll probably move it when I move the showgirls out of the brooder.

My A & Ms are sturdy buggers honestly and very fertile....that sounds very odd maybe it's just too chilled when not in the brooder?

I have even younger browns that were moved into that cage, and they're thriving. I only lost my A&M's, and this last guy is, well, like Teach said, a wimp. Our place is very warm, never below 76, but usually in the 80's (yeah, it's HOT in here). I just can't understand why I lost my A&M's and the last one won't thrive outside of the brooder, when everyone else is just fine and dandy, even the others from the same hatch and younger ones. I can only think of two things, either it REALLY likes it warm, or it really likes babies...

I throw my A & M chicks out to the wire pen (exposed to drafts in the spring/summer) when they are sparsly covered with feathers (like half feahtered half downed) and haven't had a death or anything of the sort so i think you DO havve a wimp LOL OR a babysitter LOL

there the the stoutest quail i have i movie all mine out side at 2 weeks old with a light on them and wait 7 weeks befor i move them to the breeding pensbut thay need a high protine feed i feed mineturkey starter from the time thay hatch on it sounds like it a pet bird did u show it the feeder and waterer i raise adout 10.000+ a year i never hade that problem unless i have to many rooster in the pen u need 1 rooster per 4 to 8 hens

ac set to 82? It is going to max out today at about 70, and boy o boy, shorts and a tanktop!!!!!
