A&M quail problems!!

Ive decided im about done with the white birds... their white color is the only thing it can be... they have gone nuts fighting each other and tearing each other up drawing blood and riping out feathers.... even in a big cage they chase each other aggressively.... on the other hand my brown quail... not a one dang problem.... the brown are 5 in a cage and its a quarter of the size the a&m birds are in... i have no problems with the brown quail at all.... i think it just may be time to get rid of the white birds.... try a different color quail or something... if not just all brown...

Funny, I have come to a similar conclusion, the freaking white birds are physcopaths, I just snatched a hen out of my breeder pen because she was attacking the other hens.

Just because I was fed up and did not want to make accomodations for her I dropped her in the pen with young roosters, somebody may be dead in the morning, and its not really the big white hen I'm worried about.

but my last two hatches have been browns and goldens, no more whites.

I had eight or ten white chicks but gave them away cause I knew they were going to go nuts.

Yep thats the conclusion ive got too.... they are fine for a little while.. then flip switch and all go nuts.... i have real good bloodline birds too....

are the goldens around about the same size where they would be good bbq birds like the whites and browns? I would think they are the same... ive never had any though...

Im fed up with the white A&ms tho. They are nothing but maintanence and trouble..

ah just see what happens... I cant say everyone has the problems I do... otherwise no one would have white birds.

I raised hundreds of the browns many years ago, and have some in the incubator now. I also have some A&M eggs on the way. What kind of temps can they take if kept outdoors? My last set up was inside, but I'd rather keep them out as much as possible. The new breeds didn't exist when I was raising them 30 years ago.

Mine have been fine on 105 degree days... i got a fan to circulate air some on hotter days.... water for them to drink is the biggest thing
