A misguided buy :/

I'm new and confused here.

The site says :
Keep in mind this coop, like every coop we sell at My Pet Chicken, is NOT intended for full-time confinement. The run is convenient when you can't let your flock roam freely, but make sure your flock has several hours per day outside.

My coop is similar in size. It is only to be a "bedroom" upstairs and downstairs is to keep them free enough till I get up in the morning. I figured as long as the entire thing is predator proof, I'm good to go. It appears to me they are saying the same thing, other than "several hours " being vague. ?? ?

Now that the seller has been hammered, I would, just for the public's sake, like to hear from them. The statement "weaseling money" is a pretty heavy handed statement. If I were to be the company and found someone making a statement that I didn't believe to be fitting or true, I most assurdly would be hurt, almost to point of feeling defamed.

Has MPC been heard from? What was their take on the building discrepencies? Let us know what they say.

While it's not big enough for full grown birds it would make a nice transition coop for chicks. So while it sucks you spent the money, just think of it as an investment towards your future chicks.

I have the Ware Chick-N-Villa, and I was searching on here because I have the same concerns. It seems too small for my four chickens. There is nowhere to put their hanging food and water. For now, they are out ranging all day, and just sleep in the coop at night, but what about winter?

This coop wasn't cheap, either. My husband bought it for my birthday. I'm pretty bummed about it.

I think the extra little run is cute, but not every one can free range their chickens. We have a 10*10 run with the coop inside of it. We can't leave the coop sliding door open because our nights are too cold for that and we want to train our chickens that where they sleep is the top bunker area. That is the point of having the top bunker. And, they say that the 'coop' (not the run area) should have 4sq feet per chicken. They do not satisfy those requirements with this coop.

"Just close the handy sliding door from the coop to the run at dusk to prevent burrowing predators from gaining access."

They haven't written back yet...

I don't want to seem rude or mean to them. I just don't like that they are saying that 2'x2' is enough space for 4 chickens to sleep in. Also, we weren't planning on having more chickens anytime soon, so it being used as a transition coop is pretty pointless for us. Not only that, but they did not send me what they were advertising.

With it being the holiday weekend, I wouldn't expect to hear back until Tuesday some time. It's a tricky situation, I agree that they shouldn't say it's good for four standard chickens, but at the same time they do have the dimensions posted.

Looking forward to hearing their reply

I saw the dimensions posted too.

I'm not asking for money from them or anything. I just don't see why if they posted that it was good for four chickens (at the time we bought the coop we were just starting to learn about chickens) we expected that the site new what the right dimensions were so we bought the coop. They DID know the right dimensions that were necessary for 4 chickens, but the coop they are selling does not meet the size requirements for 4 standard chickens like they say it does.

Also, where do you put the food and water for your chickens? I have hanging food and water dispensers, and there isn't room in my Ware Chick-n-villa coop for them. I found a small spot for the feeder, but there's nowhere for the heated waterer (I'm in Colorado). I'm not sure what the manufacturer had in mind for feed/water placement; just those little bowls that hang on the side?

I KNOW! We bought a heated waterer (NH) and it sais keep out of the elements. There is no room in the coop to put the waterer

What can i do, though? They did post the dimensions and we bought it. All i could do was send them a letter
