Hey everyone! Hoping to get some input on a couple mixes we have right now. They are 8-10 weeks old and I’m finding the mixes harder to sex than the Orpingtons and Wyandottes we’ve had.

I am questioning four of them. First, this little fluffy cheeked cutie definitely acts like a rooster, but they were the biggest/oldest in the younger group that we started in a brooder, so they could just have a complex.

These two are looking a little pointy to me and definitely are a bit bully-ish.

Lastly, this little ginger haired devil.

Here’s a couple bonus pictures of the whole group. If anyone has any input on possible breeds of some of the pullets I would love to hear!

Can you post pictures of their combs?
What did you buy them as?

This is bird #3. #2 has a comb that is as non-existent as you can see.

This is #1 in the post!

They came as quite a mixed hatch! Ameraucana and Cream Legbar were the only two possibilities for purebred (and I didn’t luck out with any Legbars), then the mixes would be from a group of Easter and Olive Eggers, Ameraucana, Cream Legbar, Marans, Polish, Buff Brahmas and Barred Rock.

Okay. Hmmm….the two you just posted are a pullet and a cockerel. If you want to photograph and label each bird in that big group I can tell you their breeds (or guess their mixes) and genders.

Bird #3 being a cockerel and #1 a pullet or vice versa?

#3 is the female. I love the silver-and-gray of her hackles.
If you are naming them I think something like Eerie, Slate, Rain or Misty would be fitting! :p
Eerie, I like it! Maybe she’ll grow up to be friends with Bloody Mary (you can’t tell as much in this photo, but in the sun she is so red around the face/neck)

These are my favourites, so would love any input on them! 🤗 so hard to get good group photos where there isn’t one (or six..) running around and out of focus.
