So last night before I go to bed, I notice that both of my digital hydrometers are off by 5%. One said 70% and the other said 65%. I went to bed somewhat concerned thinking that there was an issue with the humidity.
Sure enough, 6am this morning, and my wife tells me that there is one chick hatching. By the time I’m up and dressed, there were 8 more hopping all over the place with more starting to pip. In addition to the eggs that were shipped, I decided to put one of my eggs into the incubator. The roo is my daughters, and my 6yo son was happy to announce that it was starting to hatch as we were all ready to head out the door.
My 16yo daughter was home, and reported that before she had to leave to babysit for a neighbor, there were 16 chicks all jumping over each other in the middle of the incubator. This evening should be a fun one!

Sorry this is so late... the Mrs. decided that TONIGHT she needed a new washer and dryer, so after taking care of all that, here are some photos. The first one is of little James candling an egg on Saturday at the start of lockdown.

The next photos are of the chicks all piling on top of each other.

Still more eggs hatching... I'll be busy preparing for Independance Day, so I may not get back online until sometime Saturday.

I can't get those little buggers to sit still long enough to get a head count, but it looks like 30+. Fifty-three eggs made it to lockdown. Today at noon, they will go into my new brooder. My first brooder was 24" x 24"... no way all these chicks could stay in there for more than 2 weeks. The one I finished on Saturday is 48" x 18"; one heat lamp on either side with enough cool space in the middle for food and water.

We set 77 eggs that are due tomarow. My brooder is 24x48. I keep telling DH it's not big enough.
I think I might be cleaning it twice a day.
Looks like you got enough to start breeding them easy.
