Welcome! Glad you decided to join us :welcome . I briefly used DE when I first got chickens but found it not to be helpful. My roofed walk in run has a dirt floor, every fall I put several inches of dry leaves in and the girls destroy it during winter. Pine shavings for coop flooring. Works well for me all seasons
