A New Beginning!!!

Well my girl Delilah (Pekin) sat on 10-12 eggs last year in August and unfortunately we did not have a hatch.
We saw two fully formed hatchlings, but for what ever reason, they were not alive.
Mayhap it was the rainy summer.
Mayhap it was the late start in the season.
Mayhap it was because it was Delilah's first attempt.
Whatever the reason, Mother Nature did not see fit for us to have ducklings last year.


Well, I've been keeping an eye on that spot, hoping perhaps she'd try again this year and come back to the same location.
And today I was rewarded!

We got home from a few days out of town, and I checked her spot and LOOKIE!!!!
Her spot is all "wallered" out in nest form and there's just one egg now.

Very hopeful this is a new beginning!!

Just got back home from a long weekend trip.
We now have FOUR eggs in the nest!!
She didn't lay there at all this past week, but while we were gone, she's gone back to it!

It really is!!
I'm SOOOOOO hoping she hatches some this year! Especially after last years attempt and disappointment.
There's a 5th egg this morning and she's covered them some to hide them.

I'm very hopeful!
