A new chicken addict in upstate SC

Hello,
My name is Catherine and I reside in upstate South Carolina with my husband on about 8 acres of beautiful country property.
My start in chickens was about 10 years ago with an order of assorted heavy breeds from Mt Healthy hatcheries. At the time my husband enjoyed them far more than me.
My addiction started up recently, with research into what bantam breed I wanted.
I currently am starting up a new flock with a handful of breeds.
I have a trio of Bantam Chocolate Orpingtons from a local breeder. They are going into their 4th week and are doing fabulous. My avatar is one of them.
My main breed is going to be the Serama. I have one 6 month old cockerel named Twizzler and a trio of 1.5 wk old chicks that are doing well.
I have also a pair of Bantam White Leghorns bc I thought the parents were stunning. They are currently being raised with the Serama chicks.
It is so addicting these little ones!!!

Yes, chickens are addicting and it is hard to keep up with all that chicken math!! (2 + 2 = 14 chickens!)

Hi, Catherine, welcome to BYC. Have you been to a poultry show? Sounds as if you might become a true fancier and show person.

I have not, but I do plan on joining the local bantam club and attend the local show when it comes up.
I eventually plan on buying a pair or trio of young adult Serama's from a local show breeder, but I have to get some additional coops built.
