Crazy chicken lady
Hi all,
I've referred to this community frequently in the early days of chickening. I currently have a flock of 11 with five more on their way! I have been progressing toward 100% self-sufficiency. Right now I might be at 20%, but it's better than nothing, right? Anyways, this year I am growing some items to make my own scratch feed, with the end goal of growing at least 80% of my birds' main diet. When planning this endeavor, you must know the nutritional needs of your chicken, what can grow in your area, how much and what to grow, etc.. So basically I needed to formulate a few recipes in advance. I scoured the internet in search of "plug and play" calculators which will automatically calculate the final protein and fat content of your feed recipe, and unfortunately all of them came up short of what I wanted. Some of then couldn't be edited, or were for the wrong animal, or were just too complicated. I spent a solid 20 hours this week researching and making this calculator, and you can take part in editing it and making your own! Truly, I made this for myself, but I do hope someone else can find use in this tool as I did. Happy Chickening!
