A new Hobby Soap making Love it

For me, I would have to add scent. Infused oils have never given me much scent all. But I like the scent to be on the stronger side too, and customers want it that way too. But try it and see.

Joni believe you!! I knew yu said so about the Rosemary but didn't honk to ask about the lavender. So next scent order will be choices from.... Most at your suggestion from soap maker help thread ..... Rosemary, lavender, yuzu grapefruit, black rasp cream, sandalwood ylang. Haven't even startedsoaping yet and already have list made out for next shopping trip!!! If all goes as planned all supplies should be in and I'll be soaping Tuesday!!!

I don't think Southen garden scents has sandalwood ylang anymore

I really loved that scent. I still have some sprays with that scent that I am hoarding, lol.

Are you looking to do both eo and fo's? I would look around at Brambleberry if you want to order both, or Scent Works (you have to get Black Raspberry Cream from here if you do, it's always my best seller and has a tartness to it that a lot of others don't). Both of these places sell eo's and fo's, are top quality and you save on shipping by ordering from one place. Brambleberry has a little more variety if you want to get stuff like micas and such.

Beware, it is down right addicting ordering fragrances!! What kind of scents appeal to you? I love fruity scents and tend to go for those. I love oatmeal milk and honey too. I would order 2 or 3 fragrance oils and 2 or 3 essential oils that you can use alone and blended ( I would go with lavender, peppermint and either rosemary or lemongrass).

What state are you in? Most of my orders are from
Brambleberry
Scentworks
Souther Garden Scent
Daystar
Essential oil University (eo's)
Anatolian Treasures (eo's)

I just got some 4oz fo from Candle Science to do some test batches with(I'm doing a 5lb batch to see how well they sell). I got coconut lime verbena, honeysuckel jasmine, violet lime and ocean breeze.

Ha. Ok in re-reading I realize predictive text has gotten me. Ha. I don know who Joni is but I was trying to say... "Oh no, I believe you". Ha. Gotta love it.

Oh no!! I've been reading how much you liked that sandalwood 2 years ago. Ha. I really wanted to try!! I was wondering if the SW BRC was better than SOS BRV. The BRC is 'spensive!!

I like all kinds of scents. Not crazy about cloves and some musks. So far I have ordered dried lavender and German chamomile; brambleberry chamomile (before I knew the recipe called for dried cam), coconut cybilla, pineapple cilantro (thought I mix these for piña colada-ish scent), moroccan fig, neroli (for Cham soap), and buttercream/snickerdoodle. Then from sweet cakes twilight woods and nectarine blossom/honey Jo Malone (these were friend requests), And econocuke and OMH. Most Of these were just the one oz to do samples etc but I did get larger of some.

Not picky about EO/FO. Mix or not. Whatever. Of course I like the price of the FOs better. I would probably go with the rosemary over the lemongrass. For now. I tend to go fruity but one of my favs non fruity is victoria secret amber romance and my next fav is BBW festive vanilla fig which doesn't smell fruity to me but not to overwhelming vanilla either. It was seasonal Christmas 2009 and they didn't bring it back for 2010. I'm almost out !

I really like BBW coconut lime verbena during the summer too. That's a must do at some point. Those news one you have coming sound good

I'm in Arkansas.

I dont' know about the Lavender buds but I cook my CHamomille flowers for several hours in Crockpot and it does add fragrance to my soap. I add neroli FO to this to and the combination of scents if wonderful. It holds well too as in doesn't fade.

Uh-oh. Sounds like you are already addicted, lol. You seem set on Fo's. Personally, I do prefer the SW's Black Rapsberry Cream to the one at SGS, but I totally get that it is expensive and you aren't making money at it. The one from SGS smells more like the one from BBW, it's a little sweeter. Sw has this great tart note that I love.

If you order from SGS, try the Pink Sugar. I think they have a coconut lime verbena too there. The sandalwood rose is nice, it sells very well for me, but personally I preferred the sandalwood ylang.

I hate musk scents too, yuk.

Some eo's actually end up being cheaper than fo's because you use a lot less. With lemongrass eo I use .5oz ppo and peppermint (if alone and not in a blend) I use .3oz ppo.

Being in Arkansas, SGS would be the cheapest shipping I think.

And incase anyone is interested, here is my soap fanpage.

It does add a note to the soap, but to me, it doesn't add a real scent the way a eo or fo will. The bananas add a note to the soap, but it's not a strong one. Just hints. That is what I got from infusions as well. Hints of scent.
