We caught a peahen that has been running wild for the last 2 months that we know of...it was in a subdivision and no one wanted it roosting on their vehicles...I have a indigo blue male and female...this one we caught has some green on neck..so I figure female..but it's not as dark as mine..plus it's head on top is brown where mine is green on my female..it's breast is cream color were my other is speckled and dark...is the one I caught mixed or just to young to have its colors yet..same size as my 2 yr olds

Welcome to BYC! Can you post some pictures of both hens?

The peahen behind the tree is the new one other picture is my 2 I have had since hatching

One by it self new one
The one with a solid green neck and head is a Spalding probably around 50% green and the other looks like an Indian Blue kind of. I don't know if it's a very low Spalding though since it doesn't have yellow on the face, no green on the head, no barring on the wing, no red laced breast feathers, crest is fanned out. If it's a Spalding it's a very low % but I think the second one is an Indian Blue.

The picture with 2 are brother and sister..the one by the tree I just got...was running loose in a subdivision...top of its head is brown...and lighter in coloring...just wondered if it could still be young and head hadn't turned yet but it's the same size as my two and they will be 3 in April

Indian Blue hens tend to remain brown on the head and are lighter than Spaldings.
They say they are hybrids. Can they reproduce?

Spaldings can still reproduce even though they are a hybrid.
