A pip on day 18???

Sounds like you and broody have things under control! I think that’s all you can do for now to get her out a while, and good idea on the brooder. I’m sure she’ll be fine so long as she’s drinking.
We kept our chicks and broody separate for 3 weeks because of the other hens, and think it’s a good job we did judging on their reactions while we supervised. They are a lot better now the chicks are fending for themselves.
Enjoy the cuteness! 😍 and don’t forget more pics when the chicks emerge!
We are going to separate for a few weeks!! It will make my stress level much lower. She was teaching them how to eat today. It is the cutest!

I have a girl with a 3 week old chick too. Fortunately it doesn't get too warm here.
Actually, my problem is it's been raining for two weeks!
I don't let my other birds near the chicks & mom, as they would kill them. I have some nasty birds. I have let my roo walk around with them though. He's a good boy.
Glad you got 5 chicks hatch.
Sounds like she's being a good mother.
The rain is tough. We love having sand in our run. Unfortunately they have to "free range" in chicken tractors because the hawks are terrible. We had a coopers in the yard this morning...
Setting up our big brooder in the run today. I will post a pic of the babies!

she came out today with them all floofed up and wandered around a bit.

Providing an update chicks are 3-4 weeks and I am so sad I think they are all roosters but one and we love them!!! The white one for sure and the barred one is a maran x barred rock and supposedly they are sex linked and males are barred. The blue marans is also chest bumping the others. Going to be looking for lots of new homes :(. Guess this is how it goes!!
