A Poll On Meat and Meatless Nights (Now with a bonus question)

meat. Especially venison. During the fall, winter, and very early spring I replace beef with deer as much as I can. 'Till I run out

But I like pork, chicken, and fish as well. Not too big on turkey, usually only during turkey season and Thanksgiving, but it's personal taste on that one

I guess #11 'cause I don't think #1, #2, #3 or #4 fit me. I don't eat meat because I think that if I can live my life without taking any others I should. Were I to live in a place where I was not able to do so and remain healthy, I would eat meat I had raised and slaughtered myself. I know that I am lucky that this is not the case. However if I ate meat, I still wouldn't eat certain animals for religious reasons.

8 but am working my way back to 10, as a kid we grew most all of our own meat, eggs and milk, some veggies. We only bought staples. Heck we even made our own butter. I thought moving away that I'd be more modern ad buy my food from the store..but you know that quality goes waaaaaaay down. And it's hard to find a nice juicy rabbit at the store. I agree that the animal destined for slaughter should be humanely treated and has a good life, it should be that way. That's how it went down at the old farm!

6 evolving into 10.

I don't worry about leaner meat, because we eat less overall meat. If you're splitting 8 oz of meat into 4 or 5 servings, you want higher fat meat for more "meaty" taste.

5 and kind of #6 only it should say "I DO eat less meat for these reasons"

I think eating excessive meat isn't great for your health. Of course if you replace your meat consumption with twinkies you'd be better off eating the meat.

I don't think it's wrong to eat meat but I think we need to be aware of where our meat comes from and how those animals are treated. I think if more people were educated about where their food comes from most people would naturally eat less meat.

Agreed. I think it's much better to replace the meat and saturated fats with the good fats - nuts, olive oil, etc.

I think thats why a lot of folks pick 10~!

Yup. 10 is good. I do that as well but not totally.

For me it would be 5 and 10.

I think too much meat isn't good for me so I'm cutting back. Cutting back becomes easier for me when I embrace 10, cos I simply can't afford to eat that well that often. I don't mind buying my meat at health stores where is it free ranged and grass-fed, though it is seriously expensive

So, to sum it up I eat meat once a day, 5 days a week, or thereabouts. One benefit I've noticed from eating 'clean' meat is that I find it more satisfying and therefore can enjoy smaller portions.
