Her tail feathers are getting so long they are starting to curve! That’s the main reason I thought she may be a he. My other Orpingtons tails aren’t nearly as long.I'm not really seeing any saddle or roo hackle feathers. At 5 months i'd say shes a hen.
At 5 months that’s totally a pulletI’m starting to think my 5 month old lavender Orpington may be a Roo. Any thoughts?
A couple of my lavender orpingtons hens tails started to do that as well, before the rooster actually. I wouldn’t be too worried if I were you.Her tail feathers are getting so long they are starting to curve! That’s the main reason I thought she may be a he. CockerelThis post has given me such hope! I was wondering if you could tell me what you thought about my 4 week lavender Orpington? We just love her so much and from what people say, she's a he

This is my Orpington hen. She lays 4 to 5 eggs a week. So just because an Orpington has a big comb and wattle doesn't mean its a roo. I have seen so many people talking about killing young birds that look like hens because, they think they are roos. Anyway take a look at my hens pics if she didn't lay eggs I would think by comb and wattle she is a boy. You really can't tell with Orpingtons unless they start rooing or laying eggs.![]()

Both of your birds are absolutely, without a doubt pullets.I have a SLW who is doing that too, she's only 4 months but hoping I'm lucky and she's a pullet also. View attachment 2375008
