to why someone left a healthy young EE hen in the feedstore give away pile.

While giving her a more thorough look over tonight I discovered someone had cut every flight feather off both wings from the elbow to the tip. Cut them really close. I'm surprise they didn't hit flesh. I'm thinking this girl belonged to someone in town and she was a real wanderer that fences wouldn't stop. Not a problem out here with essentially 15 acres to wander around and no neighbors who will mind her walking in through their pasture.

She is molting really heavily. Hopefully from all the stress of change hands twice. Her comb is bright, her eyes are clear, no discharge from her nose and she's eating really well so fingers crossed no health problems.

We've named her Griselda.

Sounds like an awesome find - free is always cool!

What a GREAT name! Glad you found her and I'm sure she will be, too, with all that land to run around on.
