A Question About Ducks - Broodiness?

Hey Dances with Ducks! i checked on the eggs this morning and there's 4 eggs in there and thay are worm dont know if thay where sitting last night

That's EGGCITING Daniel!! Are those all new eggs or two new eggs? Usually when they lay an egg they will sit on it at least till they get up in the morning whether they are broody or not, so we can't be sure of anything yet. The main thing to watch for is if they sit on the eggs most of the day. How many females and males do you have - and how old are they?

Yes eggs can sit around for at least a week before they loose their fertility. A duck usually let's them pile up for a little while before she goes broody. Then when she starts to sit on them all day they will all start developing at the same time. That way they will all hatch together.

I've had ducks let eggs add up for two weeks or more before they started sitting, in this warm weather they eggs are fine for a very long time.

hey Dances with Ducks! are the drakes suppost 2 sit on the eggs i liked today and he was sitting on the 8 eggs then he got off
