OK I M DONE BUILDING MY "RABBIT HUTCH STYLE QUAIL PEN ITS 3'X3'X6' WITH A DIVIDER DOWN THE MIDDLE WITH HARD WIRE CLOTH FLOOR
I HAVE BUILT SOME FEEDERS AND TRAY FOR DUSTING BUT DO I NEED TO MAKE SOME SORT OF NEST BOX FOR THEM TO GO INTO (CUT A HOLE IN THE SIDE SO THEY CAN WALK IN TO A BOX) TO LAY THERE EGGS OR DOES THAT EVEN MATTER I WAS JUST TRYING TO MAKE COLLECTING A LITTLE EASIER AND BUT I DIDN'T KNOW IF THEY ALL WILL USE IT AND IS IT NECESSARY ????

Bill I suggested he put the nest box because mine are laying their eggs inside the box to get away from the roo. That and too give the birds a place out of the weather

here is mine nothing fancy as your guys

Well that makes gathering eggs easier dont it. I find them in the dust box, by the feeder, around the water fount, just where ever they happen to be. I think mine look at a egg as a solid dump and care about it just as much. Bill

Nice pen. To your question I will answer based in my experience with my pen, which is very similar to yours, you can check it here www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=407931.
I
made a nest zone (and surprisingly not like many people say here) most of my coturnix eggs laid their eggs there, specially if there were already other eggs there.

Portugal Breeder,
I love that pen . I also love that you at greens to their diet

Last time I talked to Doug, the birds those eggs came from, had quit laying 2 days after he took them home. He still had not got another egg. About 6 weeks on strike.... Hopefully they have kicked production back up by now. Bill
