NO! I used 2''x4'' horse fence for my run. You can cover that with ''chicken'' wire to make the holes even smaller. Chicken wire is weak, a coon can rip right through it.

Absolutely no protection from raccoons.

I don't know about squirrels and cats.

Well i just bought that wire... does it still protect even if i wrap it around 3.. 4 times?

Chicken wire protects your plants from chickens you need 1/2" hardware cloth wire to protect chickens from predators. Raccoons can reach through the chicken wire and grab a chicken and eat it right through the chicken wire. Protecting from predators is the most important part of caring for your chickens equal to feeding and watering.

Also, rats and weasels can get through chicken wire and kill chickens.

Bring it back and get 1/2" hardware cloth. Wrapping chicken wire 3 to 4 times will be as expensive as one layer of hardware cloth and the hwc will be much more effective.
