A roost for new chicks?

I read that chicks love a roost in their brooder. It this safe for day olds? I don't want them to hurt their legs.

I don't think you need to rush it this early, IMO. There will be plenty of time for roosts later after they get adjusted to their flooring, feed and each other.

I leave it a couple of weeks, some roost and some don't.
