Chirping
I wouldn't rush to accommodate his every need. First, he may decide to go elsewhere. Second you don't know if Roosters are legal where you live/ or if you can add more birds.
Best to find out first if you are allowed chickens/rooster. If so and you want to take on the responsibility of having a rooster and adding hens to make a flock. He won't pine away and die in a week or two, he chose your property. If he isn't aggressive to you or your family and you decide to keep him., then you may want to set up some type of coop and fenced area for James and his brides to be.
If you have a local "Craig's List," often coops and chickens are offered- sometimes free because the people decided chickens were NOT for them. Also chain link dog panels are generally available at good prices.
Hey there drumstick diva! - Great advice, Thank you - just trying to read and learn at this stage - I appreciate the caution though, I should note I'm in a tiny town in South Texas where the neighbors across the street from our post office have chickens loose in their yard (unfortunately they're not missing a rooster - we've asked!). As I mentioned earlier I live next door to a country vet and no one has reported a missing rooster, but we did leave our information. We have almost a full acre here and so far he hasn't seemed to want for very much other than some water, some snacks and his favorite spot on the back of the bench on our porch!
