Hi!
I'm sorry for your loss, Promise.
I just had an egg box delivered in less than 48 hrs (Priority Mail) that would have cost me $170.00 plus in gas and a 14 hr drive to deliver and USPS charged $7.79 and "looked like you wrapped them and handed me the box" from the recipient.
I won't argue the point that some boxes are beat up by mechanical means, the key is wrapping and packaging eggs so they can withstand the 'possible mechanical abuse' while traveling.
That being said, that doesn't excuse a 'Fragile' 'Perishable' marked package left hanging on a mailbox on a 20 degree day (and the like), that is human error and just a lack of ... I don't know... just plain lack of nonsense on the carriers part (call your postmaster and usps and make a complaint every time).
I had an interesting discussion with my carrier when she delivered your eggs, Cindy.
I told her those eggs were from someone who is also mail carrier and she said she was surprised that someone who knows how boxes are handled would ship eggs knowing how packages are handled (akkk and I'm handing you my eggs), but SHE handles my boxes gently) when they leave the carriers hands.
I told her I had total confidence the eggs were fine 'because Cindy loves bubble-wrap as much as I do".
The point (or another one) is USPS isn't going to pull a box off the 'assembly line'
where the mail is 'processed', eggs need to be wrapped and packaged to be able to withstand the worst possible treatment.
I lost the whole point, but it all seems worth saying.
Lisa
