A Shocker From My Landlord!

My French host family had a peahen that was 17 years old. She didn't eat much, just walked around and went "pwet... pwet". One time they forgot to clip her wings - they lived on the side of a valley. The peahen caught an aircell & she floated for a half mile! We ran through fields to catch her. It was so fun.

I've always thought the males' call sounded like a distressed cat.

When my parents went on a vacation in Puerto Rico, my mother was very alarmed to hear the male peacock yelling help help...she though it was a little kid calling for help! It took her awhile to find the source of the sound when one of the blue india peacock strolled in the hotel patio and he called out for the females....

BTW, I had a pair of peacocks when I lived on the farm, hated them but they were beautiful tho! I got rid of them within four months after I bought them. The coons were really bad about wanting to eat them as well!

My mother was not too keen on seeing a male peacock every morning in her bedroom window on the second floor

and he was "serenating" her!

I love their sounds. We had them at the Oregon Zoo until one bit a kid and the parents complained

They had to rehome them all. Wish I would have known this landlord information sooner! I'd have a zoo peacock RIGHT NOW.

Oh, I love peacocks! We had a pair when I was growing up. Then I had a house in the city once and a lady that owned a large plot of land across the street had a peacock farm. They used to walk through our yard all the time and we even came home to about 18 of them having a party on our patio once. We loved them. Noise and all.

nice even though you said you put up all your brooders i would have to break them out and get some right now lol
