A sick roo- help!

Try holding it in for 10 minutes with a rubber glove on your hand. Just hold him and watch some TV to pass the time. Doing this over and over, it may stay in eventually.

Eggcessive,

Thanks so much for your help. So I am not having any success with making it stay back in, he just poops and it comes right back out. I am at a loss, do you know if there are any other options?

You can make a pressure diaper out of a rolled up pair of old socks, and push the prolapse back in, and strap the roll against his vent. Take it off for him to poop, then put it back on. There used to be a link with a picture of this, but I can't find it anymore. A vet may be able to do a purse string suture on him--it's not a very technical surgery, so even a large animal vet might perform it for you. It holds the prolapse in for it to heal, but even this doesn't always work. Unfortunately, many chickens have to be put down for this condition, although I hope that you can have success.
