For those of you with bantam cochins...who generally feathers in down the back first...the roos or the pullets? I've got 6- 3 week old white chicks and 3 of them have feathers coming in already right in front of their tails (on their back) and 3 of them still just have baby fuzz there. Also, the 3 with that feathering have larger combs than the fuzzy ones. Everything else pretty much looks the same.

For most chickens, the hens actually feather out first with their feathers being even throughout their body. The roosters tend to have a few bald spots when their feathers come in, especially on their shoulders/wing bows. What you may be seeing are vulture hocks possibly. Pics would definitely help.

I'll get some pics tonight. They all have vulture hocks...but the 3 have feathers coming in front of their tails, on their backs. And they have tailfeathers already, and their combs are bigger than the others. All 6 of them have feathering on their shoulders/wing bows. Please watch for pics I post tonight or tomorrow morning and let me know what you think.
