We just call them weasles and yes they eat chickens. And if there's enough to eat they'll stay and multiply! I would buy a Live Trap, bait it with something meaty eggs, leftovers, dead chicken, whatever you've got. Or skip the trap entirely and just buy a .22

You could also put a big rock over the hole on the inside of the coop until you get it fixed. (my go to trick.)

That may or may not work. Some critters are smart enough to move a rock unless you are talking about a very big and heavy rock like a boulder.

I have never had to deal with any type of weasel but know they don't just kill for food but also for the sport.

They do not kill 'for sport'...only humans do that.
When they take more than one it's called a 'killing frenzy'.
Mere economics, killing as many as possible in a single opportunity and caching for future meals.

Are you sure you’re not just drawing the raccoons in with whatever bait you’re using? Many people lose birds and set traps. They catch raccoons cause they’re easy to catch and automatically assume that’s what is killing them. Could be but that weasel needs to go.

A weasel can drag a chicken off. There’s a few videos on the internet if you look hard enough. I agree it’s probably the raccoons but the weasel isn’t your friend.
