A surprise donation 17g eggs

Wow, I was just gifted a dozen 17g and 18g quail eggs....
Going to get the incubator set up and start hatching these wonders!
They were kindly given by a local quail keeping friend.
What a great gift!

syneyquailman - the eggs barely fit into the plastic egg trays.

robopetz- from what I understand they are a mix between English whites and normal jumbo.

That is one hefty gift!!! BTW, you don't still have that cat, do you? I was told that if you season them just right, they taste like "quail"

. Only kidding. I wouldn't do that to my own cat... maybe my neighbors though...

i had some large 16 gram eggs in bator, they didnt hatch, i later cracked the eggs and found 2 quail in the one egg, i had approx 4 like that, good luck with it.

Soooo... On my last batch if buttons and tonight is the last night of turning. So before lockdown I have candled. To my surprise, I have one that hatching now! I didn't even see the external pip when I picked it up. But candled and see a lil chick already pipped. Cool, but 3 days early?

James the bald - yes i do still have 'that cat!' Though I didn't speak to him for quite a while ! But now we're back on speaking terms!
The eggs are all set now, along with some of my own, bred from my favourite old girls and my new handsome boy
