One of my poor hens is in semi-isolation because every rooster on the place (around 50 of them!) standard or bantam thinks that SHE is his only consolation in this life -- if she's not protected, they mob her. Is there anything I can do to make her less attractive to them? I'd hate for poor Praise to end up having to hide forever...Even her supposed to be with same breed roo, who has 3 other ladies to attend to, will attack her exclusively when she is in the run with him.
What's up with that?

*sigh* It IS hard..i have that problem also. ...Gotta beat 'um off with a stick.. Its tough being a hottie..

I think a hen saddle would help.....and maybe a ton of perfume on it. I think it turns guys off when they cannot breathe... plus recently I found that perfume keeps dogs from chewing things so Im looking for other magical uses for it since I have a bottle and don't wear the stuff....

I'm really sorry... I think what I'm about to do is called hi-jacking or thread killing... but I was gonna say that yes, cheap ugly cologne or perfume does take ink out of stuff. My son showed me how to get permanant ink out of our carpet by spraying AXE on the stain & rubbing.
Like I said, I'm really sorry to butt in with no real help for the original post... I bet though that there is some validity in that perfume and a saddle idea.

How many hens are this pen with 50 or so roosters????

1 rooster to every 10 - 12 hens is a good ratio.

Your solution will be to isolate the hen in another with a few other hen friends or get rid of 48+ roosters.

Also remove her from the pen to isolation so that she has a chance to recover and regrow her feathers. Before adding her back to a large pen get rid of some roosters and put a saddle on her.

I missed the part about the 50 roos...it was VERY late! I was assuming that she maybe kept separate breeding pens and had lots of breeds, since she said "Even her supposed to be with same breed roo, who has 3 other ladies to attend to..."
I hope there are not 50 roos and 4 hens on the place! lol
POOR HENS!

You know what they say about assuming though....
