A Tour of the Coops and Critters of Cat Country (Image Heavy!)

Mom and Dad (who live up the Hill) have an Anatolian dog who is death to possums. In fact, there was a dead possum in the yard the day before yesterday. Tiger (the dog) doesn't bother the geese or ducks or chickens, and he hates raccoons and possums with a passion. *knocks on wood* I haven't had any losses due to predators at all this past year, not even with tiny chicks in the Brooder Hutch. I appreciate the warning, tho, and will get some sturdier fence wire to wrap the houses in. I've been really lucky!

Here are a couple of last year's pictures of Tiger. His head comes up to my hip, and is as big as most people's head.

Thanks! He came from Missouri somewhere when he was 8 weeks old; my Sis and her SO bargained for him and brought him home. He scares most people to death. We put him on the cable when we're going to have a lot of folks visiting, but otherwise he runs loose. He's been bitten by coyotes and snakes and no telling what else. I feed him along with my two outdoor dogs, even tho technically he's not mine. But he's the one who dug under my porch till it almost slid off its foundations! Dozy dog!

Cattitude that is a beautiful boy. I went in search of a LGD wanted a great pyr, found a half pyr (the other half is goofball black lab) and OMG the chickens peck him senseless the ducks chased him and he is the biggest goof you could ever imagine...ask Cyn she knows, she has met the goober. But this past July I lost 14 birds in one day to this horrid heat and the 4 survivors, my orp roo and 3 girls were put in the spare bathroom where they stayed for several weeks, the goober guarded them. He laid in the hallway outside the bathroom and I woke up more than once to a huge orp roo crowing in the hallway....the Goober pushed opened the door when the sun started coming up cuase I guess he figured that is when the chickens get up so it was time to let them out.

. He may actually turn into a good LGD one day, if he ever grows up.

We are still working on our plans as well, I have to get the okay to travel from the doc on Tuesday and then we can plan dates. We are going to visit my DH's father's grave, then to Cyn's and then back home to KY...our usual route is around Knoxsville and up I-75 home. Cyn can give you my cell number and we can coordinate after I see doc and the lab vampires on Tuesday.

I hear you on the lab vampires... I'm going today to get blood work done. And I have to be fasting, too. I'll have to head straight for Taco Bell after they're through and put some calories into the system.
