I'm looking for some Heritage Rhode Island Reds. Would like to use them as dual purpose like they were originally intended for. (To my understanding anyways) Meat for the freezor and eggs for the pan.

These are much darker than my current flock but I dontd understand what they mean by they should look like a brick.

What they consider RIR now have been bred for mainly egg production and not so much meat and I would like to get back to my grandparents way of life.

That does look like a breed standard RIR. Now, I don't know I'd they are heritage or not....meaning I don't know if they still would lay and be meaty the same as the old birds.
Also, if I were you, I wouldn't buy eggs from ebay. They does seem to be a reliable place, from the looks. Lots of info. But a lot of times eggs aren't shopped correctly, nd end up breaking. But that is your own risk.

I had that thought too. But I drive through Arkansas a few times a year when I head to texas to visit family. My thought way to contact them and see if local pick up was possible. But as I know virtually nothing about chicken breeds I figured I would get the overall opinion of everyone here before I even contacted the seller who would only have biased opinions and info for me.

And on that note. Thank you for your time.
