While building your coop, if you ask you wife to but a nail in the fascia board while you hold it and she says "I've never used a nail gun before, I don't know how to" you should listen to her.

You shouldn't just say "just hold it up there and pull the trigger" like I did.

She couldn't beleive that I took out my phone to take a picture before I had her pull it back out. The kids her me yell "ouch, you shot me" through the open windows and jumped out of bed to see what happened

They wanted to see the holes in my hands and the picture. In my 12+ yrs of construction I have never shot myself, of been shot with a nailgun, until I tried to build our coop

The nail pulled right out with minimal bleeding. It is pretty sore this morning though. Yeah I know, I was very lucky. Next time we will do some saftey training first

That is why I don't like nail guns. My hubby, which is in construction also, got shot in the hand through a board at work by another worker. The gun was to powerful for the thickness of the wood. then one day he thought he had put the safety on and accidentally shot himself in the foot. They are dangerous and NOBODY without experience should touch one. I know I won't.

Be sure to keep the wounds clean if your not planning a Dr's visit. When was your last tetanus shot?

After this I will definately stick to the ol' hammer and nail.

If it makes you feel better...my DH did the same thing building our coop, the blood stain still remains to this day. hope you feel better and be more careful when choosing who gets to use the nail gun

I hope you saved that nail!
It could be framed and hung on the coop~ Ya know, like a christening mark. "Shot with this nail while building this coop"

Is this post related to the "Coop will end in Divorce" post? Was the pic really for evidence? Just think of the story the kids are going to tell at school. Mine wouldn't get off the bus in the morning without announcing that Mom shot Dad. The school would call the police...lol!

I hope that heals up well.

Thanks guys. All is well. My wife is a nurse so she is taking good care of it. She feels horible about it and keeps on saying that she is sorry
lol.png
She yelled at me when I went back out and started working again after she cleaned it up

Yeah I'm sure that the whole school knows about it by now. That would be funny if she got a page at work today, "excuse me mam, we need to ask you a few questions. Did you shoot your husband last night?"

She actually shot me with the second nail that she shot. I have the sequential trigger on this gun so when she pulled the trigger it fired a nail that went where it was supposed to, then it bounced and the tip hit the top of the facsia board and it fired again. My hand was about a foot away and somewhere I thought was safe, I guess not though
