A very annoing Raccoon: How to get rid do not killing it ?

Hi guys, I hope you were able to d/l the videos.

I am not able to kill and I am not sure how many raccoons live close to my house.
The special long trap is better idea for me so far but if I install it close to the cat door
then my cat will be always the first who is catch, I guess... We have also a lot of foxes,
other animals and probably coyotes, too.

So, my question is do they sell some stuff that have a terrible smell for
raccoons but is not such bad for the cats?

Also, may some ultrasound device help or .... be a reason of the problem?
I use electronic pest repeller to fight with mouses. May this sound be not
good for mice but attract the raccoon?

Racoons are tough to get rid of. I have heard of life-like toy snakes and using ammonia and moth balls. We have a wildlife preserve 20 miles away and have permission to relocate ours there. I had to quit feeding wild birds and make sure there was no cat food out at night. I could never kill any animal (unless it was in severe pain, or attacking) so I do what I can to discourage them from being on my property. I wish you luck getting rid of your problem.
I would try the toy snake. Some people say it works for them.

Have you ever thought about just building a run for your cat, like chickens have a run? Your cat would be outside, but the raccoons wouldn't be able to get inside. I've even seen people convert a dog kennel. I've seen them with shelves to walk or lounge on, scratching posts, toys, plants, even little table top fountains, which are easy to make yourself. It's just a suggestion, as killing, trapping or having your cat wear a collar seem to be a problem, as solutions. You might even be able to let your cat wander during the day, but keep the run door closed at night, as a solution. Feeding your cat something tasty in the run, before night fall, could train it to come home in time to close the run door.

much to most peoples disbelief coon will eat food that is quiet tainted most times the ranker it is the quicker they find it . if someone relocates it for you in most localities it is flat illegal check legality if they can relocate generally the relocated animal has to fight the animals already where it is relocated to, if the raccoon carries distemper they can carry both types and are capable of transmitting it to canines or felines or both they can be euthanized with CO2 chambers by drowning or with a .22 all are equally humane deaths I hope you solve your problem truly and just don,t push it off on someone else . good luck

We often are out of the town on weekends and it is just not possible to left cat food outdoor for a few hours because
of numerous ants. My cat scare to eat any food if I didn't check it to be without ants! He is old already (11 years)
and has a bad sight. So he can't see the ants. Also there are just a few months in year when it is not chilly at night outdoor.
May cat is a known warm lover and he feels discomfort even if the difference is just few degrees.
Also it is dangerous to sleep outdoor at night because of number of other animals that are dangerous for cats.

What helped a bit I conducted the hose from the laundry sink to the "battle field" and was on duty 2 nights.
When I watched that raccoon is on the shelf already I turned water on! But I can't do that every night...
If I do that automatically it will spray on my cat as well !

P.S: I see nobody d/l the second video. I forgot to mentioned that it was done with different camera location
- side view, so you can see more details.

If you're going to trap it you'll just need to keep your cat inside on the nights you have the trap out there. That way it won't be the one getting caught first. And I have to agree with whoever said that the more it smells, the quicker the raccoon will find it.

Yep, you are right, my cat will be safe at that nights.
Not sure about some neighbors cat (he comes to fight often)
and what raccoons love to eat but let say foxes don't?

What I meant, was to have the run attached to the house where the cat door is. Your cat could go in and out of your house when it wanted to, just like now. It's regular food would be inside, just like now. It would never be locked out of the house. No other animals would be able to come into the run, so they couldn't get into your house.

Trapping is certainly easier than building a run, if you are willing to do it. You can try using marshmallows to bait the trap for raccoons. We did that when we had to trap a raccoon and didn't want to get the local cats. It worked for us.
