A Very Sad Day and PLEASE, Need Help to Stop it From Happening Again [Long]

Golden feather, I hope you feel better. As a Koi hobbits, if I loose a Koi or see it having difficulties ( which did not happen for a long time), I went to far extent to take of it. '
It turns out that two of my mallards are males and they have gotten huge from eating fresh bokchoi , cherry tomatoes, meal worm, lightly oiled fried eggs salad. Hope things balances out itself.

Have you ever heard of Oxine ah? it is very safe to use around animals, I like it alot better than bleach, plus I use it in their stock tank and kiddie pool, you maybe able to use it in your flocks pond too. Every morning I spray down all the roosts in the chickens side of the house and wipe and also use it to spray bedding, even mist my whole flock with it 2X a month. heres a link to info

Yes! I have read this one before and have it saved. That stuff is hard to find! I hadn't thought of using it in the pool though. Hmmm, I think I'd better do some research on this. It really might be the answer to the 'duck poop soup'. I tried fish but....they ate them.

I had to order online, I bought from Revival animal health, and if you buy 4 or more it's a little cheaper, if you Google you may find it cheaper somewhere else, if you do please pass on the info.

How far can you travel? I live in Southern Maine and have a wonderful vet that sees my ducks. She is in South Gorham. I have had to take 3 of my ducks there. They do will do a necropsy.
Avian vets can and generally will treat ducks.
I am sorry for your losses.

Sounds to me like you have made every effort possible. Sadly, you may never know.. as well i agree the larger ducks with the smaller ones, they all get along till they don't..

I do hope you get some answers, the not knowing is sometimes worse.

Thank-you. As for the pekins, my original thoughts were to raise them, use some for meat and keep some for breeding. Sounds so harsh with what has just happened, but truth none the less. Another plan to be rethought. I never knew I would fall so hard for these little buggers. Even at their worst they are still a wonderful creature. Answers? I can hope but I believe you're right, I will probably never know and can only go by the evidence I found.

Oh you and Miss Lydia have made my day! Thank-you, thank-you, a thousand thank-you's to you both!!! A question about this stuff. I remember reading you can use this as a vapour in your chicken house. Can you do this with a vapourizer like you would use at home? Or would you have to purchase the delivery system they offer? I'm thinking of the cold coming and the times when chickens, ducks/geese and turkeys will not be outside in the fresh air. Even when it went below zero, I opened and aired the chickens for an hour, at least, while I was in there checking and cleaning. They still had a respiratory issue that was cured with antibiotics. I've heard you can use vinegar this way but have not tried it yet.
