A very Stupid Question!

I have 16 roos and only 5 are not destined for the stew pot. I am just waiting for the other 11 to finish growing. Unfortunately they have found their voices before their breasts. I don't know what I am going to do with the banty. He and his girlfriend are my only bantys. They are too small to eat and I hate killing something because it irritates me.

This was my thoughts also. Usually lights are a problem somehow. Is it possible to hang something on the window(s) at night? Can you put shutters on the window(s)? Headlights, motion lights, porch lights, street lights, dusk to dawn lights, full moon light, all will be a factor to look at.

No no light, we live on 53 acres.. so the only light we have is the full moon when it is out.. the coop is right behind the house next to an old cotton wood tree..and only the one roo for now..since the hawks took care of all my flock this summer..

so i'm hoping he will just get over it.. I can't do nothing about the full moon at all, and the cage thing I guess that would work, but then I would have to stick him in the house.. my horses love to open cages.. and let everything out..

I think I'll have to get used to it for now.. he doesn't crow during the day at ALL, just at night.. LOL

Maybe try putting him in a cage and covering it with a blanket or towel. Maybe he needs total darkness. Hopefully the blanket would muffle the sound. He aparantly (sp) is an insomniac and thinks everyone else should be also. Could try a tiny shock collar. That would be my choice. At first I would put my banty in the hen house at night after he went to sleep. Then when he woke up and started crowing the ladies would peck him to shut him up. You could tell because his crow would get cut short suddenly. It worked good cause they would stop him from crowing and if he did crow I couldn't hear him very well. Then he got smart. He would get out of the hen house as soon as he woke up then crow and there were no girls to shush him up. Now the dummy is caged for good till I figure out who I hate the most and then I am hucking him over their fence with his girlfriend. LOL!

LOL .. I wish my hen would do that.. even though i think he was too tired last night to crow.. I slept like a baby, or I was just too tired and didn't hear him.. but a tiny shock collar would be great..LOL.. but I don't think I could find one that small .. but it would be cool to have that is for sure.. thanks for all the feed back ,I will try the blanket over the cage thing tonight.. i have to get the cage all built again.
