A warning about 'live' traps

It was a Hav-a-heart LIVE trap and she was only missing for about an hour, I was home- in and out all day. She either overheated in an hour or I think she may have gotten so scared and panicked that she smashed into the sides and broke her neck.

I'm so sorry for your loss....

And thanks for warning everyone who may have never even considered this a danger.

Sorry for your loss.

I have a live trap and one day I caught all three cats in it and then another day I caught two chickens and last night one of those chickens did it again...she's silly!

She may have panicked and had a heard attack, but I doubt she broke her own neck. A limp neck does not mean it was broken, just that there is no muscle working to hold it in place.

An hour in hot sun (especially with high humidity) can definitely be enough to kill a chicken.

Night 3 of my having a trap out and came up empty again. I'd love to not have to screw the door shut on them again. Only a few more days till the roof is on my pen but still, by then i may be bloodless and one huge mosquito bite and will have to bathe in "bug stick" juice.

my chickens steal dogfood all the time if the dogs get fed outside

my son thought the dogs would like to eat outside and when he brought the dogs out, after filling the bowls first, the hens were there and had emptied the bowl
