A waterhole for my emu? Chickens?

Recently I got a large plastic 'pond' my emu, which I intend to place in the ground, and fill with water (she LOVES her water, and has lots of emu fun in the puddles.) i am just concerned that my hens will wander into the pond and drown. How are they with water?
The pond is just under knee deep and about two to three emu sizes big. Please help me. Thank you.

it is very cool that you have an emu

you should leave about half a foot rim above the ground but they float and mine are fine with my ducks pond
