A wild mallard has joined our chicken flock

A male mallard's been following the girls around the yard. He flies off if I try to get close enough to take a pic, but then comes back.

I had a pair join my flock for a few months in early spring, but I haven't seem them for a while. My guess is they had their own chicks out in the woods and are busy with their families.

You know what he wants! I once observed a mallard drake 'mating' with a guy's show in the Public Gardens in Halifax!

The past 2 springs Ive had an Ibis join my flock for a couple weeks. No idea why...never seen him try to mate, just hang out with his new friends.
