Suddenly, a huge boom erupted. Crimson's ears lay flat to his head, ringing. His eyes hurt from a flash of light. Something had been struck. He looked beyond Willow, to the Thunderers. Sadness sent shivers through his purplish pelt. A Thunderer calf. He walked out of the cave towards Willow. "A Thunderer calf has been struck," he told her, his voice edged in sadness. Savannah storms are short, the rain slowed. It all felt like it was falling in slow motion around Crimson. The ringing and the rain turned to a white noise. Other than that, silence. He walked to where the Thunderer calf lay.
