I have nothing against broodies - I loved it when two of my girls went broody and hatched chicks. As a matter of fact, when the first girl hatched her single chick and took such good care of raising it up, that's when I thought about hatching some chicks in an incubator.
By the time the second gal was brooding a small clutch of eggs, also her first, I had eggs in an incubator. They both went back to laying eggs, but I haven't stopped incubating 'em. I'm adding all the breeds I have wanted into my flock. And then bantams, too. And then, well, just some MORE of some of the same breeds. They don't all hatch, so I'm not swimming in chickens yet (getting close).
