Aaaagggghhhh! I have an egg eater!

Found one of my hens eating egg white off the grass this morning and a quick search found the egg shell in my hens favourite corners. What do I do?

I have a ceramic egg that I will drop on the ground by them. Chickens peck it and I think it hurts there face so they stop pecking eggs.

At our local feed store. It worked for me.

My ceramic eggs arrived today. Gosh they look real! In the meantime, we had another broken/eaten egg the day after my original post and we have worked out that is our 9 1/2 week old chicks who are the guilty party! I have put some ceramic eggs in their coop this afternoon so their EGG -ucation has begun!

Here is another way:
Make a small hole in egg
Drain out egg yolk
Fill it with mustard
Put it in your hen's fav. nest box

Chickens HATE the taste of mustard and will never eat your eggs again.
I used to have an egg eater and this worked.

I had some problems with the chicks I bought at 8 weeks and the one I thought was eating eggs has started laying her own eggs and so far she hasnt eaten them. She would even roll the eggs out of the nest box. Would find eggs in the run after I knew the hen who laid the egg was actually in the nest box. But since she has started laying, the eggs remain in the box untouched. Maybe its a young pullet thing.
