AAAARRRGH! Help?

Well, the death in shell issue seemed to be mostly contributed by low temperatures. There was sound and movement before the thermostat issue. By the time it was fixed...well, they didn't pip even after the temperature was normalized. :(

Yeah, I'm trying to get my money back for the incubator. It's basically just a box with a fan right now. The hydrometer and thermometer work accurately, but the heating element going out was very costly.

LOL! Brand new. This is it's and my first hatch.

Well, I've lost a few more quail to whatever the infection they have/had was/is.

I still have 4 that I'm monitoring closely, but they're looking to be over the worst of it.

One shoe remained on the quail, while the other came off. I'll have to reapply a little later, but it's already able to move around better with one foot splayed out in approximately the correct position.

The quail that did pass died while being snuggled, so...it was the gentlest death they could have while I tried to help them over it. The quail with the injured feet was among the lost. Probably for the best.

I'm super glad that I'm not overly emotional about this batch. I'm still really happy that ANY survived after the incubator mishap.

I got both of mine free off ebay full refunds because both arrived missing parts/defective/broken I fixed them but they still have hick ups a lot of them are junk but it's the best option for your buck I have about $100 invested in the two 96 egg incubators

Well, I have 6 or 7 chicks that are healthy again. The one with shoes is struggling and based on previous behaviors of other chicks, probably won't make it through tonight. I remain optimistic about it's chances though and will continue to subject it to treatments. I have applied neosporin to the eyes, as lack of vision seems to be the problem with chicks not getting to water and food.

The pile of chick bodies is very disheartening. I shall mummify them and put them in my sacred garden.

I REALLY enjoyed the hatching of the chicks. I think that for the circumstances, I did pretty darn fantastic. All of the problems arising from the incubator failure were not foreseeable.

I'm not sure that I will incubate eggs again after this.

Awesome and congratulations on the survivors! You have done very well! If you have questions on incubation come on over to the incubating with friends thread, lots of cluckative fun people, they'll just pressure you to set all eggs ;) and there are no expectations

Enjoy you fuzz butts!
