I brought 5 one day olds home today from the feed store and they are SO LOUD!!! It sounds like a car alarm. This is a huge contrast to 2 that I picked up a couple of weeks ago that were just beginning to feather (nearly a week old maybe?). Those two had a nice sing-songy voice that sounded more like a mockingbird. And two of these new ones are already trying to bite! I also picked up an Americauna chick and the poor thing just wants to sleep, but his roommates won't shut up.

Is it just because they are so young??? Yes, they have food, water, and warmth.

I don't know mine are just now hatching. Good luck. They are so cute. They act nothing like baby chicks.

Much more vocal and alert.

Noisy keets are usually unhappy keets, so maybe you need to double check your brooder conditions. They may be missing all their hatch mates, so you could put a mirror in with them, taped to the brooder wall, it gives them the illusion that there are more keets in with them and may help them feel more comfortable. Make sure the brooder lamp is providing a temp of 95-90 degrees in the center of the heat lamp glow, you can lay a thermometer on the floor under the glow for several minutes to get a temp reading. Also make sure they can get away from the heat. Sprinkle some starter crumbles on a paper towel on the floor or the brooder, they may be too upset to go to the feeder, and also make sure their water is close.

have to agree with Peeps. a noisy keet is an unhappy keet. probably too cold. the OM was about keets - not adults.
