Abandoned Chickens

So one of my friends told me about some chickens who randomly appeared in her yard and asked if I could rescue them because she cannot keep them. I gladly said yes but then I realized could I get in trouble for rescuing these chickens? I have a lot of chickens at my place already and would love to have a bigger flock, but I also dont want these poor guys living in the streets and suffering. But I also dont want to get in trouble for like stealing someone's Property, even though they've been there for almost a week, could I get in trouble for this? Rescuing these abandoned chickens?

If I were in your position, I would probably take them in so they could get the proper resources they need, and keep them separated from your other birds for a while to make sure they are healthy. Maybe put up some lost chicken signs?

Yeah that's what I had been thinking, and if no one claims them within a few days or week I would just keep them, and give them a better life than they did before in the streets
