Abandoned ducks. Need help on how to catch them.

How did you catch them? We've got a park with a pond the next town over that's a dumping ground for ducks and geese. I tried to catch a little runner once but never could manage it.

I was able to catch 2 domestic ducks in our my river the way @EveryThing ducks is talking about. I use a dogx pen Was able to get both at the same time to by luring them in and putting food towards the back so they were all the way in.

I use a net from Premier Supply to catch my chickens and ducks when I need to. You could use a normal fishing net with a long enough handle. I like the idea above from EverythingDucks and see if you can corner them or herd them into a pen. Even though they can’t technically fly, they will flap and go into turbo duck ground-flight mode so best to corner in a pen or other kind of enclosure - against a wall or a fence maybe? And then use your net or a blanket might work. Good luck.

I do plan on going back. This is going to be a harder mission because this duck won’t trust me. I hope the lure of food is enough for him. I might try today but the weather is supposed to get really really nasty so if I go it’s going to be fun to say the least.

Something like whole corn or meal worms may be enough. Took me a week of going everyday down to the river with food before I could get my 2 rescues to where they would walk into the xpen an eat.

Today I went to the park and noticed three non wild ducks in the pond. Two Pekins and one Magpie. My mom tossed them some food and they were starving. So we went home and got them some actual food and tossed out three quarts. They ate all of it. They are pretty take for ducks especially ones that have been dumped. I need tips on how to catch them so they can get a good home.

I hand catch wild ducks and geese. Here is how I do it: I sit down next to the water and start throwing pieces of bread to them. I'll try to get them to come closer to me by starting to throw the bread closer and closer to me. Once they are comfortable with that, I start leaving big pieces of bread rate in front of me with my hands prepared to catch. When one or more comes after it, I snatch them. After that, I try to get them comfortable with me and calm them down. Once I've done that, plus kiss them and sometimes show them off to other people, I gently release them back into the water. I have caught countless wild ducks and two Canadian Geese with this method.
How these ones are starving, they should be very easy to catch. Perhaps letting the park know before hand might be a good idea if they are going to ask any questions. I hope this works for you if you haven't catched them yet.

I just tried to get the white one now. A huge flock of geese has flown in and the duck has made them her friend. Can’t sneak up on her because of the geese’s watchful eye. She does seem really hungry though so perhaps that’ll be enough to lure her into my trap.
