My best broody has a clutch of 12 eggs. She is usually great but I think she gave up this time. The eggs were early on, I gave them to her on the 29th. I went out of town that weekend and have been busy since I got back. I would go out in the mornings to feed and water. At these times Winnifred was off the nest, but this is not unusually at feeding time. I don't know when she abandoned them. It has been hot here, with the night lows around 80+.

My question is should I bother putting the eggs in my incubator? They are dark eggs so candling is tough. Come on experts give some advice!!!

Well it seems the problem is solved by the bird in question. I guess she is just taking more frequent breaks in this heat. I will check on her tonight to make sure.
Hopefully she stays on them, and I may set some eggs in the incubator anyway

I’ve had broody hens take two breaks of over 1 hour each day in high heat. In cold weather it may be one fifteen minute break a day. They do adjust to the heat.
