Hello! I've raised standard quail for quite sometime and today we had a very abandoned Gambel quail (maybe 3 days old at most) show up and is doing fine thus far. I have him in a 5 gallon tank with infra red at the right heat. I've taught him how to drink and eat but I've never raised just one chick and have no other quail his age or anywhere close and he gets extremely upset when I or my dad walk away or set him down and begins to cry until we come back. I'm afraid to handle him too much due to not being warm enough outside his tank but he won't settle down and begins to stress.
Also he is eating and drinking but hasn't seemingly pooped at all and it's a slight concern? His eyes, nose etc are all clear and no sign of illness or pasty butt. Any advice is hugely helpful!
Is it safe to hold him so he rests? Should I be concerned he hasn't pooped?
