Hi everyone,

Have a chick I purchased from tractor supply on Saturday and noticed yesterday that it was having poop stick to its feathers around its vent and lower abdomen. Today I washed the area gently to clean away the poop and found a very small hole in her abdomen and poop does come out of it which explains the poop sticking to the lower abdomen feathers.

Is this normal? Will this resolve on it's own? Is it compatible with normal life and egg laying?

I can already see she is not keeping up in the growth with her sisters.

Thank you for your help.

I haven't seen this before. Could be a rupture from the chick having pasty butt, or just a sore. Time will tell. Make sure it's clean, and see how it goes.
