? about bleeding an stitches.

I never forgot the tip my great aunt (farmer ) gave me when we would visit her farm as kids... if we got a cut or such while playing near the animal pens she would whip us right in and rinse it with peroxide or failing that a bit of diluted bleach water. (this was back in the 60's and they didn't have fancy antiseptics to hand)

Get your tetanus booster ASAP. Believe it or not just farms are where tetanus grows. Generally found around horses, animal feces, yet it can develop anywhere.
You think "Oh, couldn't happen to me, this is 2008", yet I do have that one in a thousand story regarding a elderly lady that contracted Lock Jaw and the only place she had any open areas or a place for the infection to enter her body was a slight scratch she received from a nail while going down to her basement for a canning jar of food.

Even though this is a time where we have over come such disasters as the guaranteed death sentence of Lock Jaw, keep on it, don't let it become a story to tell people.

Its a shot once every decade, or if you have had a break in the skin directly involved with animals or as you have just read, anywhere.
Below is a link that is one of the millions saying the same thing, go for a booster on Monday morning with your PCP.

Please take care of yourself, its better to be safe then sorry!

Sorry to keep you all hanging about an update. Last night I went to early because it was such a horrible afternoon for me. The pig eating my little chicken in front of my four year old and myself, the cut, the fight with my brother in law over watching his dogs....
I didn't go for stitches. There is one spot that is deeper and more wide open. I have been soaking it in water with betadine, then letting it dry out and putting Bacitracin on it with a bandage. Thankfully I have a annual check up with my PCP on Tuesday morning, so I figured she can take a look at it. I wonder if I should get the Tetanus w I am also going to request a Tetanus shot because I know for sure I am due for one.
I did have some of that whatever it's called that is like the glue... Jeepers, I am too lazy to get up and see what it's called. I used it once on my daughter and she actually got an infection where I sealed it up so I am kinda scared to try it again. Oh- it's called Liquid Skin!
Other than it hurting like a son of a gun it looks pretty good. It's on the back of my ankle where my achilles tendon is so it hurts to walk.
Thank you all for taking the time to help. I appreciate it.
