Hello, so one of my chicks about 9-10 weeks old, I have noticed that at the end of the day her crop is the size of a pingpong ball (or slightly smaller), bulging perhaps 1/4 of an inch from her chest but mostly hidden by her feathers. Unfortunately, I have forgotten to take pics... however, the next day I feel all along her chest as best I could to be sure and it seems clear. What I want to know is, if it is normal? I feed her chick feed which is hard, but her crop felt solid as rock. Her poops seem fine (solid and brown cecal poops.) She is very active and forages all day. It happened a few times before, and I believe it may have happened twice consecutively after she ate. I am wondering if even though her crop is flat, could there still be something in there?

For today I currently have her on just garlic and vinegar water (just a drop), then I plan to give her greek yogurt after tomorrow (or should I do it in two days?)

You want to see filled crops at the end of the day if they are not make sure everyone is eating. I have a hen that has a crop the size of a large egg. She is pretty big hen to and lays huge eggs.

All chickens should have a full crop at end of day before roost time. How are your other chickens different???
I don't see any concern here.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome
I just have two, one is still in the brooder and her crop is never hard. That is my concern with my 9week old in which it feels like a complete solid mass as hard as a rock, not firm.

@N00B1O1 Are their crops malleable? solid rock hard?

I gave her greek yogurt with crumbles, and the bulge of her crop showed again, and it is hard...I feel like even though it is flat, it is not empty. Help, anyone?

Solid rock hard. I feed chicks grains and chick starter since day one. People do not recommend feeding chicks grains and only starter feed but I have adult chickens that were not impose to grains at a young age and as adult they do not eat them and leave the grains they do not want behind. Mom breaks down the grain with her beak and the chicks eat it.
