I have a 3.8 year old hen that has developed sour crop. I have been giving her miconazole 1/4 supository twice a day, today is day 4. she is also on an antibiotic for suspected bacterial infection at the same time. she is pooping multiple small poops with a runny urates that are light yellow, a day and her crop is about size of a golf ball with seeds that have been in there all week. she is trying to eat as of yesterday, but takes a few nibbles of her crumbles/mash and some grit. I saw her drink water a couple times. I have been massaging her crop in a upward motion and today it still smells, but not as strong. she is in the house, sitting fluffed up and after I massage her she pants, then settles down. her abdomen is flat. no internal or external parasites. I dont know what else to do. I dont know why her crop is not getting better. this happened after she finished her molt. I dont think its impacted otherwise she wouldnt be pooping. is a molasses flush appropriate with the contents in crop still smelling? I dont know what else to do. should her crop still smell at this point? I am hoping someone has been in this situation and has a solution they could share. thank you.

You might need to go up to a half teaspoon twice a day. You'll have to do this for a week (and probably not longer). Though you're not thinking her crop is impacted, you should also be giving her some coconut oil once a day with one of her doses. You can melt the coconut oil in your hand and give it to her in the syringe with the miconazole.

Does she wear a crop bra at all? If she does, she should wear it until her treatment is done.

Now, how long has she had sour crop? There's no chance that she ate anything that she wasn't supposed to, is there? She is getting older so that could be why she has developed it, but I'm asking in case there's something more going on.
